If you HAVEN’T watched Firefly… go do it. Now. It’s on Netflix. Go. You won’t regret it. Ahhh, cult classic Firefly. 14 episodes, 1 movie, and an undying fandom (clearly illustrated by the record-breaking success of Con-Man), the space western tv show directed by the King of Television, Joss Whedon only gets more amazing with every re-watch. But… you’re a fan of Firefly. And you want to read books with a similar feel. Here are my top ten list. They’re not all Space Westerns, but they’re all good.
I realize I was a *bit* creative with this topic, but I decided to go with it anyway!

Obviously. This is the full story behind Shepard Book’s mysterious past – as told by Joss himself. A must read.
A group of guerilla teens, who also happen to be aliens, have to protect the world from evil aliens. Believe me. It’s a good series.
Need I explain? If you haven’t read it, read it.
When all the adults die, gangs are quickly formed, and youth must fight for survival. I know it sounds cliche, but Nelson did it first, and did it FABULOUSLY.
One of my all time favorite novels. Teens get stranded on a planet during a short mission, and have to survive alone.
Almek Manning has to escape London Proper, a glorified prison camp., where he leads the best and the brightest. But his dream is to fight in the war in space. Great read!
I think this was just released, but I have yet to read it. It looks fantastic, and has been advertised as Fast and Furious meets Firefly. Interesting combo.
This is my #1 recommendation. YA space western, with a powerful protagonist who owns a spaceship and has a fun crew? Can’t get more epicly Firefly than that!
A small, tightly knit group of misfit fighters against all the monsters of the world? Yes, please!
You may have noticed that more than anything else, I love characters. So, maybe these ALL aren’t space westerns like Firefly, though Liberty DEFINITELY is, but they’re all great books.
