As I’m sure you all know, we are quickly approaching Harry Potter’s 34th birthday, on July 31st, 2014. Now, as you probably also know, after the recent release of a Harry Potter short story, Rowling has set off a LANDSLIDE of rumors about Something Big Going Down on July 31st, 2014.
But… I’m not gonna talk about that.
Until July 31st, anyway. Y’know, when something big goes down and I become the happiest person on the planet. (POTTERHEADS UNITE!)… but, let’s not jinx it, shall we? Pun intended.
In honor of the birthday of the boy wizard and his creator, I am throwing a Week of Potter right here on Escaping Reality — One Book at a Time. It could be anything. Whatever I’m feeling like at the moment I decide to write a post. It might be a “Dear Jo” letter, a “Dear Mr. Potter” letter, it might even be the ramblings of a member of the Fred Weasley Death Denial Support Group. Or it could be mini-reviews highlighting my favorite parts of the books.
Feel free to write your own Harry Potter posts. I don’t have a button, or an official fancy banner, because I really haven’t planned this out all that well. I just want to share my love of Potter with all of y’all.
Last week I fulfilled a bucket list item of mine — My sister, my best friend, and I successfully completed a non-stop 21 hour (deleted scenes included!) Harry Potter marathon. It required insane amounts of sugar to successfully stay up so late, and to go 40 hours without sleep, but Harry was worth it. We had a great time. We took a selfie with each movie as we finished it. Here is the result:
Last year, for Harry Potter’s 33rd birthday, my sister, my best friend, her sister, and my cousin created this chalk drawing (And even got featured on Mugglenet!):
And finally… *DRUMROLL PLEASE* …
In the true spirit of Harry Potter, and the love that Potter fans share… Don’t forget to DONATE to Lumos so that we can Light Up Jo’s Birthday 2014! Lumos is an amazing organization founded by our Queen Rowling in order to work towards stopping the institutionalization of children world wide. Light up Jo’s Birthday seeks to get extra donations for Lumos as a special birthday present to Jo. Please, please, PLEASE donate! <3 :D
Let us all raise our wands to Harry Potter, the Boy Who Lived.
