In this gripping conclusion to the #1 New York Times-bestselling Matched trilogy, Cassia will reconcile the difficulties of challenging a life too confining, seeking a freedom she never dreamed possible, and honoring a love she cannot live without.
My Review: This book was beautiful. That may seem a strange word to describe a book, but it’s the only one I can think of. Everything about it was beautiful. The character development, the writing, the story line, how it all flowed, everything.
Now, don’t think I’m just some biased fan talking out of an obsession for the series or anything, because I’m definitely not. I read the first book, and liked it. It was good, so I decided to read the second one; however, I ended up really, disliking it, so it took some convincing for me to pick up Reached, and, at first, I thought it would be just like the first, good, but not great. It didn’t take long, however to pick up speed and catch my interest.
In this final installment, Ally Condie really put forth her best work yet. It tied up the trilogy perfectly. At first, I was worried that the love triangle would be exactly like The Hunger Games, but it wasn’t at all. It was so much better, in so many ways. No matter who you shipped, you were 100% satisfied with the ending. There was nothing disappointing or annoying about this ending at all. Something, about the ending, was just so perfect. So satisfying. Tying up loose ends, and yet leaving it open, as if the story actually did continue. Everything flowed together so perfectly, this book was incredible.
To Sum it up: Poetic, gripping, and powerful every step of the way, Reached was a masterpiece worthy anyone’s time. A breathtaking and perfectly timed ending to a dystopian novel of love, rebellion, and freedom; I recommend this book for 9+.
